Robert Audas, managing director of Dairy Farmers of Britain, is leaving in a restructure designed to make the business more customer-focused.
Audas will quit the co-operative group at the end of the month and will not be replaced, because alterations to the management structure have removed the need for a separate processing division. The managing directors of DFB's processing subsidiaries will report to chief executive Malcolm Smith in the future.
Smith said: "It was clear we could improve member service in terms of speed and quality and at the same time reduce our costs. This restructuring will improve communication through our business and will give us focused teams."

Other changes include the establishment of a member call centre. The area managers team of eight has been replaced by four regional membership secretaries with improved lines of communication.
