Australian Vintage has hired M&S’s head of grocery Thomas Holliday to be its head of sales in the UK.
Holliday has joined the McGuigan and Tempus Two brand owner after three years with M&S. Prior to becoming its head of grocery in June 2024 he was head of its beer, wine and spirits division.
Before joining M&S in 2022 he spent a decade in the Sainsbury’s buying team, culminating with a near three-year stint as wine buying manager.
Holliday replaces Henry Moran, who has recently been promoted to become Australian Vintage’s head of sales for Europe.
“We are delighted to be welcoming Thomas to Australian Vintage,” said Julian Dyer, Australian Vintage’s COO for UK, Europe and the Americas. “He brings a wealth of commercial and leadership experience, and his expertise will be instrumental as we continue to grow and strengthen our position within the UK.
“Thomas will be responsible for overseeing the strategy and execution of UK sales plans and teams across all channels and driving commercial relationships with our major customers and stakeholders.”
Holliday added: “In my previous roles I have had the opportunity to work closely with the people of Australian Vintage and I am eager to contribute to the team and culture.
“With over 12 years working on the retailer side, I am looking forward to utilising my experience to build valuable business relationships and drive commercial outcomes to accelerate market share and revenue across Australian Vintage’s exceptional portfolio of brands.”
In October, Australian Vintage launched a new range of wines targeted at foodies in the UK.
Called The Butcher’s Cellar and comprising a Malbec and a Red Blend, the range was “designed for those who take pride in their culinary craft”. It is listed with Sainsbury’s (rsp: £10/75cl).
