Acheson stepped into the role earlier this month

European bakery products manufacturer Baker & Baker has appointed Matthew Acheson as its group CEO.

Acheson, who stepped into the role earlier this month, was formerly CFO of CSM Bakery Solutions, moving to Baker & Baker when it separated to become a standalone business in 2021.

He succeeds John Lindsay, who joined CSM in 1987 and has served as CEO at CSM and Baker & Baker since 2016.

Lindsay has stepped down into a strategic advisory role until 1 May, when he will formally retire. He will then take up a non-executive director position with the company.

Acheson’s appointment as CEO reflected “his dedication and success in driving the performance of the business over the previous seven years as CFO”, said Baker & Baker.

Having first joined CSM as decision support finance manager in 2010, Acheson’s “deep financial experience and understanding of the business… in conjunction with Baker & Baker’s experienced leadership team, will deliver a seamless transition”, it added.

Meanwhile, Paul Jones, formerly UK finance director, has succeeded Acheson as Baker & Baker group CFO.

His promotion reflected “his hard work in driving financial growth in the UK business over the previous three years”, said Baker & Baker.

Marianne Kirkegaard, executive chairman of the board of Baker & Baker, said: “I would like to congratulate Matthew on his appointment as CEO and express our confidence, trust and support in him to lead the company in its new endeavours.

“Supported by a strong leadership team, we are excited about the next chapter for Baker & Baker.”

Acheson added: “I am extremely pleased to be entrusted with leading Baker & Baker, as we look to expand our presence and distribution in markets throughout Europe and further afield.

“2024 has been another robust year for the group, and we are excited about the opportunities to grow our business in collaboration with our key customers and partners.”
