Free-from bakery brand Cru8 has secured a partnership with Deliveroo for its Paleo Bread lineup.
The premium loaves are available now to Deliveroo users in the vicinity of Cru8’s kitchen in Battersea and its delicatessen in Chelsea Farmers Market. Seven 400g variants are available, including Original, Fig & Apple and Spiced Carrot (rsps: £5-£7.99). All are free from grain, dairy, gluten, wheat and refined sugar.
They would tap demand for a free-from category that was “booming in the UK, estimated to be worth £837m, having grown by 37.5% in 2018” said Cru8.
The brand has also secured a listing with Selfridges for six variants of handmade biscuit: Almond Macaroons, Cacao Macaroons, Cacao & Orange Macaroons, Pistachio Macaroons, Chocolate Chip Cookies and Oatmeal & Raisin Cookies (rsp: £6.99/160g box).
Cru8’s two new partnerships would “ensure that more Brits than ever before can get their hands on our all-natural alternatives” said the brand’s founder, Alexi von Eldik. “The UK has witnessed a tremendous boom in the popularity of gluten-free and paleo products, and at Cru8 we want to be at the forefront of this movement, leading on quality and nutrition with life-optimising foods that support health and wellbeing.”
Free-from products enjoyed a 16.5% rise in value last year in UK grocery, reaching £1,416.3m on volumes up 13% [Nielsen 52 w/e 8 September 2018].
