Wrights, which has 18 bakery shops in Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe, has “streamlined” its sandwich range to oust slow movers and added more “exotic” fillings to the mix.
The revamped range of more than 20 varieties, including panini, wraps, sandwiches and subs, incorporates redesigned packaging to target the grab-and-go lunch trade.
New sandwiches include ploughman’s, chicken & bacon, egg & bacon, ham & cheese, cheese & onion, tuna & sweetcorn, chicken salad, all-day breakfast, BLT, egg mayonnaise and chicken & stuffing.
The range also includes a variety of wraps, such as chicken & bacon, barbecue pulled pork and chicken Caesar; panini, including ham & cheese, tuna melt, tomato & mozzarella and chicken & chorizo; as well as chicken & bacon, ham salad and ploughman’s subs; and chicken tikka or ham salad baps.
Sue Gwilliam, Wrights head of new product development, said: “We’ve streamlined our sandwich selection to provide customers with a simple yet wholesome menu, which offers exceptional value without compromising quality.”
A spokeswoman added that new filings would be released “over time as specials to suit the ever-changing market”.
Wrights is renowned for its meat & potato pie, first made in 1926. It suppliers independent convenience stores and independent bakery shops with frozen unbaked, part-baked and finished products through a network of national wholesale distributors.
