The Southampton Star, chartered by Geest from star Reefers, unloaded her first shipment of bananas from the Windward Islands on 23 January. Southampton, which handles more than half the UK's banana imports, will be supported by the weekly service to and from the Caribbean. Thee 9,200 dwt vessel has a banana capacity of 215,000 boxes below deck and a further 90,000 boxes on deck. {{FRESH PRODUCE }}
