B&M is staging its own jobs fair, in a push to fill posts from stores and distribution centres to its head office.
The variety discounter is appealing for candidates to come along without an appointment to its head office in Estuary Commerce Park, Speke, Liverpool, from 9am to 1pm on 7 August.
“We’re holding our own jobs fair!” B&M posted on LinkedIn this week. “No need to book, just come along! We have opportunities in retail, distribution & transport, head office and kickstart.”
The post is part of a major social media recruitment push by the business in recent days. In a string of separate posts, the retailer has announced it is on the hunt for PR and events managers, IT team members, graphic designers, merchandisers and security officers, as well retail and DC staff as it opens new stores.
Other discounters have also been running social recruitment campaigns for a wide range of positions. Aldi has been posting about opportunities at its head office, as well for HGV drivers and 300 staff to support 10 new store openings in London this year.
Lidl is “hiring across our stores, warehouses, and offices nationwide”, according to a recent post.
Last month, Ocado Group CEO Tim Steiner said recruitment was a bigger challenge for all growing businesses in the wake of the pandemic.
“It is harder right now to recruit than it has been for a significant time, as the economy has reawakened,” Steiner said.
“And I think every business in the UK has more vacancies today – those that are expanding have got more vacancies today than they would normally expect to have.
“We work hard at it and we expect to be successful, but it is tougher than it was before.”
