Angela Barber is taking on the duties of Costcutter corporate affairs director Norman Walker.
Barber will report direct to md Colin Graves and will be responsible for PR across the group. She will also retain her responsibilities as trading and marketing director.
Barber began her career at Safeway. She joined Nisa-Today's eight years ago, managing the CBC area of its trading department, and moved to Costcutter three years ago.
Walker will be retiring later this year after a handover period. He began his career with Hull-based Spar wholesaler Jarman and Flint, working for the company for 26 years. He went on to work for Jacksons as trading manager for four years.
He joined Costcutter 13 years ago as trading director, becoming marketing director five years ago and corporate affairs director three years ago.
Graves said it was the end of an era, but added: "Angela brings the PR and marketing sides of our business together."
