Patriarche Wine Agencies is planning to revitalise the jaded view of Beaujolais Nouveau with a striking repackaging of its wine.
It is hoping to promote the wine to a new audience when it goes on sale on the traditional third Thursday in November (November 16).
The company said it was getting away from its staid Burgundian roots with a yellow and purple shrink wrap which will stand out on the shelves.
A spokesman said the aim is to persuade the customer that Beaujolais is a youthful wine that ought to be drunk immediately.
The 2000 vintage was the earliest harvest in the region for 30 years and the wines show good concentration according to Patriarche.
The Wine and Spirit Association has negotiated an earlier collection date for the new wines this year.
Its freight forwarders group identified a trend towards smaller loads of Beaujolais Nouveau which meant carriers were taking longer to achieve full container loads and get Beaujolais Nouveau delivered around the country in time for the release day.
Part loads can now be picked up from November 9.
