Tesco also moves up the chart to take third place and this, along with the increased activity in Safeway, pushes Asda down to fourth place.
All retailers are becoming increasingly dominated by Christmas lines with Christmas confectionery featuring more heavily each week. There are also a number of promotions on home baking lines featuring ingredients for Christmas cakes and puddings.
Alcoholic drinks continues at the top of the category chart, well ahead of any other category.
Health and beauty and snacks, at positions two and three respectively, both come in as new entries.
Buy one get one free offers dominate the health and beauty category while price promotions are most common in snacks.
Nestlé ¨olds the number one spot in the brand chart for the second week running, but is closely followed by Heinz which has moved up from number three.
Cadbury's and Birds Eye also move up the chart this week while Kellogg's falls by one place.
There are five new entries in the brand chart: Walkers, Caffrey's, Foster's, Kleenex and Pringles.
Caffreys concentrates on multibuy promotions while the other brands feature a variety of promotion types.
In the own label category chart the top two remain stable with frozen holding at number followed by soft drinks.
Household comes in as a new entry at number four, forcing chilled down to fifth place.
