North London’s Beavertown is hoping to build a £40m brewery in Enfield, down the road from AB InBev’s Camden Town Brewery.
Currently based in Tottenham Hale, Beavertown is awaiting a decision on an application filed with Enfield Council to build the 11,761sq metre premises on East Duck Lees Lane in Enfield Distribution Park next to the river Lee, planning documents reveal.
Plans feature a warehouse, where the majority of brewing will take place, with keg, can and ‘future’ packaging lines, as well as a service yard with tanks, boilers and condensing units for the brewery, a first-floor office and a visitor centre.
In June, Beavertown, founded by Logan Plant, sold a minority stake, rumoured to be 49%, to Heineken. Plant said proceeds from the deal would primarily go towards building the facility. Full details had been kept under wraps until now.
The site is roughly one mile from the £30m Camden Town Brewery, which opened its doors in 2017, two years after being bought by AB InBev.
The new Beavertown brewery, which the company has dubbed Beaverworld, will increase production capacity to 450,000hl. The planning document submitted to Enfield Council says the facility will create approximately 90 new jobs, growing to up to 200 in three to four years.
Beavertown was not available to comment at the time of going to press.

However, in a blog on the business’ website in May, Plant, son of Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant, wrote: “We knew a few years back that we needed more space to brew and to grow so that we could keep pushing the boundaries of where craft beer is seen and drunk.
“We are aiming to build one of the world’s best beer/brewing experiences all within this great city of London enabling us to bring more drinkers into the world of Beavertown, to entertain and stimulate and let people see what we do, how we do it and why we do it first-hand.”
However, the timescale was “a little fluid”, he admitted, adding the site could be ready by summer next year “if all goes to plan”.
Beavertown is currently contract-brewing several beers at Belgian brewery Brouwerij De Bra-bandere to keep up with rising distribution before the move to Beaverworld.
