Britvic has announced plans to get maximum mileage from football star David Beckham in a range of Pepsi World Cup promotions. The news comes as arch- rival Coca-Cola revealed it is to feature the England captain on a special-edition Coke bottle  thanks to its £6m sponsorship of the England team. Britvic category director Andrew Marsden refused to confirm whether the company was considering legal action. He said that the relationship with Beckham  which began in September 1999  included "on-pack image rights, exclusive photography, adverts, interviews and special materials". Beckham's Pepsi World Cup activity includes a multi-million pound ad campaign, where he and other football superstars pitch their skills against sumo wrestlers. Running for six weeks from May 13, it is backed by radio and press ads, along with posters in kids' magazines. Pack promotions include Text your way to one dream day', where entrants text to say why they should get a day as a professional footballer. Up for grabs are tickets to the exclusive Pepsi player party, to be attended by football and music stars, and the chance to play table football against them, along with free cups, balls, posters and CD-Roms. l Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates signed up with Pepsi this week. {{P&P }}
