Two Belgian dessert manufacturers have merged in a bid to become a leading player in the global category.
Dessert Factory and Verbau revealed the move today (4 October) and will now trade under a new name, Mellow.
The UK is a major market for the company, which already exports 80% of its products to countries primarily in western Europe.
Mellow CEO Sébastien Dryon said the two businesses were complementary, with the Dessert Factory specialising in baked desserts like cheesecake, while Verbau is better known for raw desserts such as mousses and tiramisus.

Mellow will now run three production sites with 250 employees, making it “among the top five [companies] worldwide in its sector”.
It predicts €100m (£83.3m) in revenue in 2024, with a target of €120m (£99.9m) by 2026.
“The goal is to become the world leader in fresh, premium desserts for supermarkets and to position the company as a driver of innovation in its category,” said Dryon.
