Bernard Matthews Farms has named Rob Mears as its new managing director.
Mears is promoted after two years as sales director. A veteran of the food trade with stints at suppliers including Mars and United Biscuits, he takes over the MD role at Bernard Matthews on 7 August.
“Rob has the relevant experience and has done a great job as Sales Director,” said group chief executive Noel Bartram, adding that the internal appointment followed “an extensive recruitment search”.
“His commercial approach and industry knowledge will enable us to take the business forward in the coming months and years.”
Mears said: “Bernard Matthews is a great business with some fantastic people. We have a very clear strategic direction in place, focused on growing turkey consumption, whether through own-brand or own-label products.
“That will continue to be my focus in the short-term.”
