Wine merchant Berry Bros & Rudd has opened a retail outlet on London’s Pall Mall.
The store, which sits just around the corner from the original No 3 St James’s Street branch, was designed to meet customers’ “changing retail needs”.
The new premises stock more than 1,000 wines and spirits, as well as a 300-strong fine wine section and a rotating selection of 24 products available for customers to sample from Enomatic dispensers.
Berry Bros & Rudd’s St James’s Street site is set to revert to its original role of offering “wine-related services”, events and advice. It has closed for refurbishment with an eye to reopening on 12 June.
Expanding into the new store built on Berry Bros’ “legendary customer proposition” and would help “cement its role as the UK’s most highly regarded and long-serving wine merchant”, said chief executive Dan Jago.
Chairman Simon Berry added: “When I first started working for the family business 40 years ago, No 3 St James’s Street wasn’t really a shop. It was known as ‘the office’ and customers would come in to be greeted by one of the shop assistants and handed a price list - wine was very much kept in the cellar. Designed specifically as a shop, our new space means we’ll be able to offer our customers better service than ever before.”
