The rollout of home delivery app Appy Shop across Costcutter stores has been put on hold following the integration of the symbol group into Bestway.
Costcutter kicked off the rollout with Appy Shop across its company-owned and independent estate earlier this year, following a two-store trial.
The service offered shoppers both home delivery and click & collect services for immediate orders or for future timeslots.
Bestway told The Grocer, however, that since the acquisition completed, it had paused the planned mobilisation of the app due to “other priorities”, while evaluating the technology and partnerships held within both companies.
It currently works with Jisp following a trial that launched with 28 company-owned sites in November last year. This covered its stores under the Bargain Booze, Best-one, Central Convenience and Costcutter brands.
Bestway then revealed in September that it was extending the partnership with the online shopping app to reach stores across its Bargain Booze and Wine Rack estate.
The Grocer understands that Jisp is working towards a “full tech rollout” to Costcutter’s company-owned stores from the beginning of next year.
This means retailers will be able to access its home delivery and click & collect services, as well as its newest tech solution – Scan & Save.
The service will also be made available to independent Costcutter retailers.
“We remain wholly committed to supporting our retailers to facilitate last mile delivery options and as the integration of our retail business continues, we are working towards a preferred solution,” said a Bestway spokeswoman.
