Bestway has raised $2.3m (£2.1m) to help victims in Pakistan impacted by the recent flooding.
The money has been pledged to build homes or shelters for 5,000 families, provide water for more than 100,000 individuals, and deliver food and medical supplies to over 20,000 people.
The group has also announced one of Bestway’s subsidiaries, Well Pharmacy, is donating $400,000 (£360,000) worth of medicines to support aid relief on the ground.
Bestway’s CEO Zameer Choudrey thanked everyone who had contributed to the appeal, including the local community, supplier partners, relationship bankers and financial advisors.
In addition to appealing for donations, the group held a fundraising event in September at London’s Intercontinental on Park Lane, which was attended by over 650 guests including the chancellor, the Deputy State Bank of Pakistan, UK Cabinet ministers, and MPs.
“Every $1 we have raised will go towards this cause and our teams on the ground are already supporting families with housing, clothing and food and water,” said Bestway Wholesale MD Dawood Pervez.
”It’s not just about the short-term relief – we are also looking at how we can help in the longer term as Pakistan looks to rebuild its infrastructure and livelihoods, which have all been destroyed.”
