Bestway is set to launch two new retail brands next month.
The wholesaler has developed BB’s and Tippl as extension of its Bargain Booze and Wine Rack brands respectively, adding the new fascias under its Bestway Retail arm.
The first stores to trial the new formats will be a Bargain Booze store in Buxton and a Wine Rack shop in Garforth, Leeds.
The BB’s format, which features the strapline ‘Good times to go’ will provide a full convenience range but with a strong off-trade focus including premium and value beers, wines and spirits along with fresh pizza, nachos, snacks, milkshakes and soft drinks.
Tippl will also be badged as ‘Drink, eat, explore’ and will include a ‘drink-in’ area, not seen before in Wine Rack stores. It will sell a comprehensive alcohol range together with a more targeted convenience offer, which will feature sourdough pizza, barista coffee and pastries.
It will also stock a premium chilled and frozen range.
The Grocer understands that the BB’s brand will give retailers a more premium option where a Bargain Booze fascia wouldn’t work, while Tippl is viewed as showcasing a wider alcohol offer than simply wine.
“Increasingly, there is an opportunity to buy and drink on the premises as a hybrid model, hence trials are underway in respect of two new franchise fascia brands aimed at expanding our geographic coverage and demographic appeal,” said Bestway MD Dawood Pervez. “We are adding more categories and capitalising on post-Covid opportunities for stores and pubs alike.
“We’ve shown these new opportunities to our franchise forum and the brands, the deals and the theory have been really well received. Now we’re putting it into practice.”
Bestway took over the Bargain Booze and Wine Rack brands as part of its acquisition of Conviviality Retail for £7.25m in April 2018.
