Bibby Distribution has slashed the carbon emissions involved in transporting fruit juice by using lighter tanker units. It said this meant an extra tonne of liquid could be carried per load.
Bibby’s new lightweight juice tankers allow the average load to increase by 4.2% on the previous year.
It said with journeys from mainland Europe to facilities across the UK, the total saving made over 12 months was the equivalent of taking 100 tanker loads off the road.
“Over the past two years we’ve invested more than £2m in our tanker fleet so we can reduce costs and emissions for our customers,” said Bibby Distribution business unit director, food and ingredients Vaughan Pendergest.
