Biddenden Vineyards is gearing up to launch its first range of sparkling bottled ciders.
Biddies 5 and Biddies 8 will go on sale in independents, delis and farm shops in 500ml formats next month priced at £3 and £5 respectively.
Described as a medium dry cider with a gentle sparkle and an intense, long-lasting apple flavour, Biddies 8 has an abv of 8% and is designed as a celebratory drink, a spokeswoman for the vineyard told The Grocer, while Biddies 5 is lighter, with an abv content of 5%.
“Biddenden is committed to producing the most refined, wine-style ciders and the Biddies 8 is certainly an ideal alternative to a large glass of wine, great for pairing with food or enjoying chilled on its own,” said Julian Barnes, managing director at Biddenden.
“The Biddies 5 is a refreshing, easy to drink cider, which provides a great introduction to our sparkling cider range. Whilst Biddenden is famous for its range of Strong Kentish Ciders, we have for the first time decided to develop a lower-abv alternative for those looking to enjoy a lighter cider.”
