Bidvest Foodservice CEO Andrew Selley will replace Martin Williams as the new FWD chairman.
Selley, the first chairman to come from a foodservice distributor, will take over when Williams’ extended three-year term as principal of the federation ends in December.
Responsibilities for Selley over the next two years will include helping steer the industry through Brexit and ensuring the interests of the wholesale industry are at the forefront of government decision-making.
“There’s no doubt that the next few years will be politically and economically turbulent, and FWD will be playing a key role in guiding the industry through the changing legislative landscape, speaking to government on behalf of our members as the impact of Brexit on our sector becomes clear,” said FWD chief executive James Bielby.
“FWD is built on strong co-operation between members and other supply chain stakeholders, and thanks to Martin’s efforts as chairman we are in a great position to face whatever challenges come our way..”
As revealed by The Grocer last month, Williams is also set to leave Landmark Wholesale in December after 33 years to pursue a career change.
“I have enjoyed every minute of my time as FWD chairman and I’m very proud of what we have achieved together, particularly our engagement with supplier companies,” said Williams.
“We have got the whole industry talking, and that will be vital to the future success of our routes to market. I wish Andrew the best in his new position and want to thank everyone in the wholesale sector for their support and friendship over my time in office.”
