Biotiful has launched a new Kefir Shot range amid a perceived boost in demand for health-focused products during the coronavirus pandemic.
Made using fermented British milk, the range of NPD comes in four variants: Original, Peach & Turmeric, Acerola Cherry & Tea, and Coconut & Spirulina.
Each shot is said to contain authentic kefir grains and 30 billion active bacterial cultures, as well as a high protein and calcium content.
Launched into Sainsbury’s last week, the shots come in single-serve (rsp: £1/100ml) or multipack (rsp: £2.95/4-pack) formats.
“We are strategically building a comprehensive kefir products portfolio, in terms of formats and occasions, and are making it ever more accessible,” said Biotiful founder Natasha Bowes.
“The launch of this NPD will work well for the UK consumer, as we know that there has been an explosion of demand for products that support immunity this year. These new shots not only taste incredible but offer a quick and convenient way to support immunity naturally.”
The NPD announcement follows Biotiful’s move into cheese aisles in March through the launch of its Kefir Cheese range, which featured in Sainsbury’s new cheese innovation fixture.
Earlier in 2020 major brands Yakult and The Collective, as well as Biotiful, all reported anecdotal sales boosts as consumers appeared to shift towards gut-health friendly products in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
