Children’s baking brand BKD has launched Mini Bakers Club, a monthly subscription service for three to eight-year-olds.
Each subscriber will receive a personalised box with baking and craft activities for £9.99 a month – with a different theme each month, such Under the Sea or Trip to the Big Top.
Recipe cards provide a step-by-step guide on making sweet treats such as ice cream biscuit pops and cupcake caterpillars. Kids can decorate their creations using the enclosed sweets, sprinkles and icing writers. The box also includes cookie cutters, cupcake boxes and popsicle sticks.
Children can qualify for ‘star baker’ by submitting pictures of their efforts to BKD’s online hall of fame featuring a selection of “show-stopping bakes”.
BKD wanted to “fuel kids’ imaginations, making baking with your family easy, tasty and super fun” said brand founder Adelle Frejus.
BKD’s London bakery makes the kits’ pre-measured baking mixes, which contain natural flavourings. Young bakers simply add butter, milk and eggs.
The service’s educational craft activities take on a different theme each month, tackling subjects such as science, technology, engineering, art and maths. Subscribers also get an instruction book for each task. The activities were designed to help to develop a child’s fine and gross motor skills, said BKD.
