High-end spirits brand Blackwoods is to launch a 2017 vintage range of gin and vodka developed with top bartenders.
The first NPD from Blackwoods in five years, 40% and 60% abv versions of its Dry Gin and a 40% abv Premium Grain Vodka will roll out to Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons from January, distributed by Hi-Spirits (rsp: £22-£32/70cl).
The involvement of leading bartenders in finalising recipes “ensures that Blackwoods is up-to-date in terms of consumer appeal” said Hi-Spirits managing director Dan Bolton.
The tipples were designed to “reflect bartenders’ choice of the latest trends”, while “distinctive” new bottles “recall the vintage ‘roaring 1920s’ era of cocktails”.
New packs were “inspired by vintage soda syphons” and had a copper cap that “reflects Blackwoods’ small-batch production in a traditional copper pot still”, with labelling featuring “intricate graphics which reference vintage bars of the gin era”.
