Blakemore Wholesale has defended the slow rollout of its Bmorelocal fascia after falling short of its store targets.
Blakemore told The Grocer last December that it was on course to achieve its 30-store target by the end of its financial year this October, but to date there are only eight stores.
“Blakemore Wholesale has eight Bmorelocal retail stores located across Wales and the north of England,” said Blakemore Wholesale sales director Nick Rose.
“While our store numbers are lower than originally anticipated, the focus of Bmorelocal is upon quality rather than quantity and there remains a continued interest in the fascia, with 10 retailers currently in the pipeline.”
Bmorelocal is Blakemore Wholesale’s premium store fascia which offers retailers a full symbol group package across frozen, chilled, food-to-go and EPoS.
Its eight Bmorelocal stores are located in Swansea, South Wales; Cleethorpes and Immingham in Grimsby; Annitsford in Northumberland; Kenton in Newcastle upon Tyne; Llandudno in North Wales; and Ammanford in South Wales.
