Spar retailer Blakemore Retail has launched an online shopping service, allowing customers to fill a basket on a new website and pay by phone for delivery.
The site offers a range of more than 1,100 products across all categories, including fruit and vegetables, bread, meat, dairy, drinks, snacks, alcohol, tobacco and household goods.
To place an order, customers have to register at www.afbspar.co.uk, select their nearest store and start shopping.
Once their order has been placed, the customer’s chosen store will call them, take payment over the phone and arrange a delivery slot for later the same day or the next day.
The online ordering platform is aimed at customers within two miles of participating Blakemore Retail stores, of which there are 80 across England and Wales.
Deliveries are £3, or free to key workers and vulnerable customers who are self-isolating.
“In recent weeks, Spar stores have played a key role in local communities delivering essential groceries to those most in need,” said Blakemore Retail MD Matt Teague. “We hope that this new platform improves our home delivery service by making it easier for customers to see what products we have available without leaving their homes. Our IT, proposition and marketing teams have done a fantastic job to develop this for us in such a short space of time. It really does demonstrate the agility we have in the business.”
