Booths has doubled the minimum spend for its free newspaper offer and restricted it to weekend papers only.
It introduced the offer as one of several benefits, including free hot drinks, for holders of its Booths Card, launched last summer. But it has now scaled back the offer, upping the minimum spend from £5 to £10 and excluding weekday papers.
Campaigners welcomed the move. “We are pleased that Booths has revised its free newspaper offer,” said NFRN CEO Paul Baxter. “The NFRN has long campaigned to highlight the problems such promotions cause independent retailers as they undervalue the newspaper and magazine market.”
