Upmarket supermarket chain Booths is staging a chocolate festival at three of its stores to celebrate the artisan chocolatiers who make its Easter chocolate products.
The roadshow will feature demonstrations of chocolate making and product sampling. Artisan producers will tell shoppers what they do and about their collaborations with Booths.
Customers will also be able to indulge in wine and beer matching, and make coloured chocolate slabs as Easter gifts.
“We can’t wait to hold an unashamedly ‘chocolate-centric’ event for connoisseurs and the chocolate curious,” said head of Booths brand Abby Talbot.
“We have been working in collaboration with some brilliant local producers to create our Easter range and it’s going to be an irresistible chance to discover everything we’ve been developing.”
Taking part will be artisan chocolatier Davenports, which has hand made a new range of Booths Easter Eggs including dark chocolate, lime & sea salt, milk chocolate & honeycomb, and white chocolate & raspberry fizz.
Devon-based Willie’s Cacao and The Grown Up Chocolate Company from Essex will be showing off their ‘only for adults’ flavours including Willie’s Peruvian Chulucanas 70% dark made from Peruvian Criollo cocoa beans, and GUCC’s Very Naughty Nougat.
Children will be able to try Booths’ bunny lollies made by Yorkshire chocolatier Choc Affair, and make chocolate slabs as Easter gifts.
Family baker Bells of Lazonby will offer samples of Booths’ chocolate-themed hot cross buns, including chocolate & ginger and white chocolate & raspberry flavours, while Lathams of Broughton will entice with their salted chocolate fudge cake and other baked treats.
Booths’ licensed specialists will demonstrate how to match chocolate with the perfect tipple, and breweries Northern Monk and Saltaire Brewery will be sampling their rich chocolate porters and ales.
The chocolate festival will visit Booths stores at Garstang and Lytham on 18 March and Hale Barns on 19 March.
