London’s Borough Market has gone online with its first delivery and click & collect service.

It is claiming to be the first produce market in the UK to take the step, made in partnership with last-mile specialist Good Sixty.

Once orders are placed on Good Sixty’s website, pickers collect the produce from the relevant market traders. It is then either deposited at a new click & collect point in the market or delivered by electric cargo bike in a scheduled timeslot. Commuters on their way home can pick up their orders from the click & collect point up until 9pm.

Good Sixty is an e-commerce and delivery operator catering for independent retailers including bakers, butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers. Each partner has its own profile page on Good Sixty’s website. The company was founded in Bristol in 2016 and also operates in Bath.

Delivery from Borough Market is available initially within a 1.5-mile radius, but the aim is to expand the service across London next year.

“While shoppers will continue to want to peruse our many market stalls - taking in the atmosphere, speaking to our knowledgeable traders and discovering something new - we are delighted to be working with Good Sixty to offer an alternative to those who for whatever reason are unable to make it down to us in person,” said Borough Market MD Darren Henaghan.

“Our online service will ensure that more people are able to regularly get hold of ingredients that they simply wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere. We have listened to what our customers want and are excited to be able to spread our wings in this way, focusing first on local customers in London, but with a view of increasing our reach later down the line.”
