"Botox in a bottle" is how the latest innovation to hit the crowded water category is badging itself.
Beauty From Within is manufactured by Bio-Synergy and contains all-natural ingredients, including aloe vera, green tea and vitamins A,D and E, which it claims helps skin "glow from the inside out". The 500ml no-added sugar drink, which is rolling out now in Tesco, comes with a hint of white grape and is priced at 99p.
The drink is the company's second launch in functional drinks this year following Skinny Water in July, which the company claimed suppresses appetite and speeds up the metabolism.
"Functional drinks is likely to be one of the fastest-growing sectors in the future as consumers continue to seek added value from everyday products," said managing director Daniel Herman. "We are planning to launch more products in the future to make the most of this trend."
Bio-Synergy will be going head-to-head with the likes of Sip, a bottled water with beauty-boosting ingredients. Since it was launched in Selfridges in April, Sip has gained listings in Waitrose and several independent delis and health shops. It will also be available in Irish chain Superquinns from early next year.
Waters with added health benefits have been growing in popularity in recent years as bottled water producers have taken on the carbonated sector.
Works With Water, a brand of nutriceutical drinks; Delicate Balance, a prebiotic flavoured water that enhances good bacteria in the gut; and Eau Man, which is rich in fibre, were just some of the functional water products to hit shelves last year.
Bio-Synergy also manufactures fruit bars, smoothies and vitamin strips.
