Bovril is today returning to the small screen with a relaunch of its Bovril Biker ad - the Unilever brand’s first TV appearance in 20 years.
The commercial, which first ran 1991-1994, will air tonight (Tuesday 1 December) on ITV during Coronation Street featuring the stock brand’s core range.
Aimed at highlighting the “uplifting qualities” of the brand, the ad shows how a motorcyclist is cheered up by a mug of Bovril following a trialling day on the road, with a ‘Keeping Britain’s chin up since 1886’ strap.
The push would generate buzz around Bovril and remind consumers of the brand’s heritage, said assistant brand manager Jonathan Roberts. It follows the launch of three limited-edition Bovril jars in January, which are available until the end of this month, featuring labels that highlight the brand’s early 20th century advertisements.
