Nova Schin, the brewed-at-source lager from Brazil, is set to enter the UK off-trade.
The 4.7% abv imported lager, which was first brewed in 1989, was trialled in the UK at the end of last year and has been tested in UK bars for the past two months in its current packaging.
“We think it has a massive off-trade opportunity,” said Nova Schin’s UK managing director Chandra Durve.
“The beer is really big in Brazil, with at least a 13% share of the market.” Nova Schin is the official beer of the Brazilian Grand Prix, the Rio Carnival and also the World Surfing Championships, which are held in Brazil.
The Pilsner-style lager will be available to the off-trade in a 355ml bottle (rsp: 89p) or in a pack of four (rsp: £3.49).
The beer will be up against recent Brazilian beer imports Brahma, from InBev UK, and Halewood International’s A Marca Bravara.
