Brecon Carreg has partnered with children’s charity Follow Your Dreams to recruit kids to design a new bottle label.
Six children have been chosen to create a new look for the Kids Pack product after hundreds entered a competition run by the Welsh water brand. The new design will be available from September in Tesco (rsp: £1.75/6x330ml).
Children from across Wales were asked to submit ideas for the 300ml bottle labels. For every entry received, Brecon Carreg made a donation to Follow Your Dreams, which hopes to inspire youngsters with disabilities.
Three winners were meant to be chosen but, due to the high quality of entries, the judging panel picked three additional finalists. The six were: Isabel Booth and Ciara Walkins, aged 10 from Llandeilo; Alexa Scarparto, aged nine from Newport; Jamie Spear, aged eight from Barry; and Rhys Williams and Ifan Buck Jones, aged eight, from Ysgol Gynradd Bethel in Caernarfon. They each received a £200 voucher to spend on an ’experience day’ and will see their ideas incorporated into the forthcoming label.
“We were thrilled with the response to the competition. We wanted to get children involved in the creation of the product and encourage them to adopt healthy hydration habits at the same time,” said Jenna Bissell, marketing manager at Brecon Carreg. “What better way to encourage children to drink more water than having a bottle created for children by children?”
Diane Blackmore, CEO of Follow Your Dreams, added: “Getting children involved in the process of creating a product is a great way to introduce them to a potential career. This competition could help create the designers of the future.”
