Aquafresh owner GlaxoSmithKline has appointed Brian McNamara as CEO of its next consumer healthcare division.
McNamara – currently head of Europe & Americas at GSK consumer healthcare – will succeeds Emma Walmsley, who was appointed GSK CEO designate last month, following the announcement of Sir Andrew Witty’s retirement from the role in March 2017.
In his new position, McNamara will look after the division that develops and markets products in the wellness, oral health, nutrition and skin health categories. He joins GSK’s corporate executive team immediately, and will continue as a member of the board of the consumer healthcare joint venture with Novartis.
Prior to joining GSK, McNamara worked at Novartis for 11 years, and Procter & Gamble for 16 years. He joined GSK in 2015 following the company’s three-part transaction with Novartis, since when has been a member of GSK’s consumer healthcare executive team.
“With his significant experience and expertise, Brian is the clear choice to build on the current momentum we are seeing in our business and fully maximise the future opportunities we have with our brands and to deliver the benefits of the integration,” said Witty.
