A British brand aimed at the independent sector is to be extended to fresh produce from continental Europe.
The Britfresh brand was launched a year ago to provide guaranteed quality fresh produce to the independent sector, said Redbridge Produce and Flowers. It is now being extended under the Continental Fresh brand and the first of the new produce will be available in the next fortnight.
Geoff Turner, Redbridge’s business development manager, said: “Britfresh enables the smaller player to compete. And we’ve been able to generate more volumes for the growers who are our category partners, which secures better quality.”
The new Continental Fresh brand will include Spanish onions, Dutch mushrooms and Belgian strawberries.
