British powdered whole egg, egg yolk and egg white, produced to the British Lion Code, is now available in the UK.
The British Lion egg powder, made using British Lion eggs that are spray-dried to form a powder, has joined a wide range of available egg products produced to the food safety standard.
It represents a continued investment from the industry into ensuring it is at the forefront of the latest processing technology.
Ready Egg Products, a British Lion egg products subscriber, has opened the UK’s first modern egg drying plant to complete the Lion range, enabling manufacturers using egg powder to choose British Lion for the first time.
‘When it comes to food standards, there’s no equivalent to the Lion,” said Mark Williams, British Egg Industry Council chairman. “That’s what makes the launch of British Lion egg powder such fantastic news for food manufacturers.”
The use of British Lion eggs helpd to meet food manufacturers’ demand for safe, high-quality ingredients they can rely on, the BEIC said.
It added that it would also meet consumer demand for British eggs in prepared foods as 70% of shoppers would be more likely to buy egg-based food products that displayed the British Lion mark.
