A Yorkshire dairy farmer has launched what he claims is the first Icelandic-style Skyr yoghurt made in the UK from British cows milk.
Sam Moorhouse, 22, launched Hesper Farm Skyr into independents and c-stores last month, with the product now under consideration by the mults. The yoghurt is produced in a purpose-built facility on the family farm near Skipton. Moorhouse spent several months learning to make Skyr in Iceland and it comes in 150g (rsp: £1) and 450g (rsp: £2.50) pots.
Moorhouse will start a social media campaign in the next few weeks. His launch follows the introduction by Arla in March of its own take on the Icelandic staple.
