Britvic has acquired the soft drinks and distribution businesses of the C&C Group for E249.2m (£169.5m) in cash.
The deal includes brands such as Club soft drinks and Ballygowan water, as well as the rights to the Pepsi and 7Up brands through bottling agreements with Pepsico.
“This is a great opportunity to accelerate earnings growth and provides us with a leading position in the soft drinks market in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland,” said Britvic CEO Paul Moody.
Meanwhile, private equity firm Permira could be planning a takeover proposal for Britvic, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.
