Uniq Prepared Foods, the UK division of Uniq, has recruited Somerfield commercial director Nigel Broadhurst in the same role. His move coincides with the appointment of Jed Kenrick, previously group organisation and change director at Uniq, as MD of the division.

Broadhurst’s role at Uniq had been divided between Serena McManara and Mark Donnon, who have left the business. McManara supervised its commercial business with Marks and Spencer and Donnon managed commercial relations with all other retailers.

Broadhurst’s experience in the development of own label
ranges fits Uniq’s plan to focus on that area of the business. He led the team that launched Somerfield’s Fresh Food and Essentials formats.

Before taking the post of commercial director of Somerfield, he held the same position at Kwik Save. He is also a former buying director at Iceland.

MD Kenrick has been a driving force behind the company’s European purchasing strategy since he joined as UK purchasing director in 2001.

Before working for the company he held senior manufacturing posts, most recently as operations director of Dyson Appliances.

In addition, Lochlain Feeley has become director of innovation for the UK, responsible for marketing and innovation.

Feeley joins from Walkers research and development.
