Salmon smoker and processor Brookside Products is hoping for an 80% sales increase by 2013 through wider listings of its John West smoked salmon products and an increase in exports.
Brookside, which holds the licence to produce smoked salmon using the John West brand, is predicting sales of £16m by 2013 through an increased focus on branded products and more lines.
"We strongly believe that the success of John West salmon in Sainsbury's and one or two other retailers could certainly transfer into other lines, such as fresh portions," said MD John Heywood. Brookside also holds the contract to supply The Co-operative with own-label smoked salmon, and had gained increased sales from the Co-op's acquisition of Somerfield, he said.
"There has also been a general growth regarding our export business into Italy, Germany, Ireland, Scandinavia and Greece."
