Consumers based in the west of England will be able to get a true taste of local food and drink thanks to the creation of a Taste of the West brand being launched into two Budgens stores this month.
The range, created by regional food and drink group Taste of the West, will feature more than 70 different products manufactured in the south west of England, many of which will be available in a multiple retailer for the first time.
It will be stocked in Budgens& ' Cheddar and Langford stores, in Somerset, as part of the retailer's commitment to local sourcing, with plans to roll out to additional Budgens stores across the south west throughout the year.
Products will carry Taste of the West branding and include ice cream, coffee, cheese, sausages and fruit juices. John Sheaves, chief executive at Taste of the West, said: "By creating a clearly recognisable south west branded range of regional products, we are taking the region's food and drink industry to another stage. For many companies, this is the first time they have had an opportunity to trade with a supermarket."
