Bulmers' contender in the premium packaged spirit market, Zolensky, has been given a makeover as part of a plan to extend distribution.
The brand is a vodka-based lemon drink which borrows imagery from Russian vodkas. Part of the revamp includes adding Ice' to the name and switching from a 330ml bottle with a screw cap to a 275ml with a crown cork closure. The strength has also been increased from 5% abv to 5.5%.
A spokesman said Bulmers wants to claim a bigger share of the pps category, currently the fastest growing sector in the drinks market with annual volumes up 53%.
So far the cider maker has used the distribution muscle of its Beer Seller division to push the brand in the on-trade and it is planning to increase activity behind it.
