Bunnahabhain

Hebridean distillery Bunnahabhain has debuted two limited-edition whiskies.

A peated 2004 Moine Brandy Finish and an unpeated 2003 Pedro Ximénez Finish have rolled out to specialist retailers priced at £80/70cl and £85/70cl respectively.

The Brandy Finish (55.7% abv) is the first whisky from Bunnahabhain to be matured in brandy casks. It was “naturally coloured” with a “complex and intriguing nose of honeyed nuts and rich oak with hints of dried fruits and grapes” said the brand. The Pedro Ximénez (54.8% abv) was “more traditional”, a “rich, syrupy malt” with “a sweet nose of toffee, dried fruit, nuts and chocolate”.

The distillery’s location at the northernmost tip of Islay meant “every bottle of Bunnahabhain has an indelible mark from the sea and a coastal influence” the brand added. “This signature brine of Bunnahabhain lends itself particularly well to new cask finishes such as the latest releases.”
