Cadbury has been cleared of “misleading” advertising in a poster campaign for its Dairy Milk chocolate brand.
The poster pictured a young man and woman kissing, with a bar of chocolate at their side, with the strap-line ‘Real tasty, Real chocolate’.
A complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority said the chocolate was a low-cocoa chocolate and therefore not real chocolate.
The ASA agreed but dismissed the complaint as it said that regulations allowed the style of milk chocolate produced in the UK and the Republic of Ireland to be described as “milk chocolate” in those countries.
Cadbury their products had always been sold in packaging that bore the correct designation for the product, which in this case was “milk chocolate”.
