Nespresso-compatible coffee capsule supplier CaféPod is making its first foray into selling direct to consumers.
The London-based business has acquired 100% ownership of online Big Cup Little Cup from digital marketing agency Genie Ventures. Big Cup Little Cup makes Nespresso-compatible pods and also has an online retail arm.
CaféPod said the deal would help it grow turnover from £1m to £4m in the next 12 months.
The company added it would use the BCLC site to develop limited-edition and small-batch artisanal coffees while driving brand awareness and looking to extend to international markets.
“We see this as an important move in the future of coffee purchasing,” said founder Peter Grainger. “This additional channel will enable us to communicate directly with our consumers.”
Between them, CaféPod and Big Cup Little Cup sell 15 products. CaféPod rolled its capsules out to 650 Tesco stores in April and is also sold in Waitrose and Ocado.
Official Nespresso pods can only be bought online or through dedicated Nespresso outlets.
