Caffè Nero has reported a “record” Christmas, with £1.5m in sales in one day the highest since the chain’s inception in 1997.
Like-for-like sales for the coffee chain were up 9% compared with the same five-week period last year, from 25 November to 30 December.
Overall sales for this period also increased 14% over the past year.
The chain shared sales of over £9m in a single week, recorded for two consecutive weeks.
Over two million customers were served in a single week “for the first time”, according to the chain, with its app driving 40% of total transactions.
Caffè Nero also sold 100,000 mince pies during the festive period, according to group CEO Gerry Ford.
“I’m very pleased with how we performed over the festive period,” he added. “Despite a challenging macro-economic climate and the impact of two very disruptive storms, we performed extremely well.
“The record number of customers who chose to visit our stores shows we are continuing to gain market share and the strength of our store teams and the impact our festive menu made a real difference.”
The Nero Group acquired two brands in 2024: 200 Degrees and FCB Coffee, bringing its total portfolio to five and number of stores across the UK to over 700.
