Former Bucks Fizz star Cheryl Baker is starring in a new Mr Kipling TV campaign in the run up to Red Nose Day 2003.
The Comic Relief-inspired treatment for Cherry Bakewells, which breaks on Monday (February 24), highlights the fact that they are once again the official Red Nose Cakes.
As well as driving sales, Mr Kipling is bidding to raise £250,000 for Comic Relief this year with 5p from the sale of every six-pack special edition going to the charity.
The 10-second execution, on air for three weeks in the run up to Red Nose Day on March 14, plays on a confusion between Cheryl Baker's name and the Cherry Bakewell.
Mr Kipling misunderstands a request from the Comic Relief production manager and produces six Cheryl Bakers instead of six Cherry Bakewells. But he is forgiven as it is for an "exceedingly good cause".
