Vinca Canned Wines

The bottles chill faster and weigh less than traditional glass packaging.

Organic canned wine brand Vinca has added its first bottled SKUs.

Organic Catarratto and Organic Syrah & Nero D’avola have rolled into 300 Tesco stores (rsp: £9/750ml).

Both wines are packaged in 100% PCR (post-consumer recycled) aluminium bottles weighing just 68g.

The bottles had a 47% lower total carbon footprint than glass, said Vinca

They were also faster to chill in the fridge and had a “sleek shape” enabling more bottles to fit into each shipping container and on in-store displays, it added.

“Our canned wines have quickly become the ‘go-to’ wine at music festivals and theatres, and on trains and airlines, and now we’re delighted to introduce our new aluminium bottles,” said Vinca co-founder Jack Green. “They have all the quality and deliciousness of premium Sicilian wine, but with less environmental impact than the traditional glass.”

Tesco wine buying manager Sarah Robinson added: “We’re excited to stock Vinca wine in aluminium bottles which are lightweight, easy to transport and quick to cool, making them perfect for summer picnics and impromptu barbecues. In addition, the bottles are easy to recycle and protect the quality of the wine.”

Vinca is not the first canned wine brand to extend into bottles. Last summer, Nice added a three-strong range of full-strength wines in bottles, having previously debuted a duo of ‘session’ wines at 3.4% abv in December 2023.
