Sir, I was bitterly disappointed to read the flippant remark from Martin Swaine, MD of Rhythm & Booze, about the UK's number one selling lager: "Who the hell knows where Carling is brewed anyway?".
Since this was left precariously hanging in the air, here are a few simple facts. Carling is brewed by Molson Coors at Britain's biggest brewery in Burton-on-Trent, the home of British brewing.
We agree that provenance is key and celebrate the fact that we only use 100% British barley and can trace our barley back to farms in more than 40 counties across Britain. Carling's barley also holds the Red Tractor accreditation so our customers can be sure they are choosing a great product that is good quality, ethically and locally produced.
Our ingredients are really important to us. Brewed at home in Burton, we've perfected the British recipe to provide millions of people with the ultimate refreshment. Cheers.
