Carte d'Or is looking to replicate the success of sister brand Ben & Jerry's mini-tub format with the launch of a miniatures range.
Launched under Unilever's new My Carte d'Or moniker, the 200ml pots mini versions of the existing 900ml tub will come in Chocolate, Caramel and Cherry flavours (rsp: £1.49).
The new lines, rolling out now, would fill an "evident gap" in the minis sector for a premium offering, Unilever said. "We're confident they will be popular with current customers and with ice cream fans looking for a more convenient impulse option," said brand manager Florence Howell.
However, the range will face stiff competition from established rivals Häagen-Dazs, as well as R&R Ice Cream's more mainstream Nestlé-branded Mini Potz range. Unilever is backing the launch with a six-week marketing push, including press and in-store activity.
